WHAT WILL I BE LEARNING? Some of the questions that will be raised are: Who makes decisions, What rights do we have, Can the existence of the monarchy be justified, Does the media influence or reflect public opinion, Why do some people not use their vote, Why do some groups resort to terrorism to achieve their aims. WHAT TOPICS WILL I STUDY? At A level you will study three topics: • Government and Politics of the UK • Government and Politics of USA and comparative politics • Political Ideas. WHAT SKILLS WILL I DEVELOP? To develop a critical awareness of the nature of politics and the relationship between political ideas, institutions and processes. To acquire knowledge and understanding of the structures of authority and power within the political system. To acquire knowledge of the rights and responsibilities of individuals to encourage participation in society.
