Course summary

The Level 3 Diploma in Painting and Decorating offers the opportunity to gain specialist knowledge and Decorating skills. The course offers realistic workshop scenarios, to enable learners to gain experience in applying wall coverings to complex surfaces and hanging specialist wallcoverings. There is also the chance to build on decorative skills with complex marbling and applying metal leaf products. Using spray equipment to apply paints and applying coving and decorative architectural features complete the practical requirements. The units you will study are likely to include: Core Units: Unit 201/601 Health, safety and welfare in construction Unit 301/701 Principles of organising, planning and pricing construction work. Specialist Units: Unit 220 Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms Unit 311 Applying hangings to walls and ceilings Unit 312 Producing specialist finishes for painted decorative work Unit 313 Producing specialist architectural finishes for decorative work Unit 314 Applying water-borne paint systems using airless equipment Unit 331 Applying water-borne paint systems using High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) spray equipment.

Entry requirements

It will be a requirement to have a Level 2 Painting qualification to progress on to this Level 3 qualification. You will also need GCSE English and maths at grade 3.

How you'll be assessed

Unit 201/601 and 301/701 City & Guilds e-volve multiple choice test or on demand externally marked paper. Units 220, 311, 312, 313, 314,331 - Multiple choice question paper, covering knowledge outcomes. Practical assignment, covering performance outcomes.
