This course is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance. The purpose of the course is to give students an understanding of the basic accounting skills. Upon completion of the course students will have developed their knowledge of double entry bookkeeping and the basics of costing. Students will learn how a manual bookkeeping system operates and the basics of operating a computerised accounting system. This gives students the basic knowledge they would need to progress to AAT Advanced and professional qualifications. This course is suitable for anyone wishing to change career or further their knowledge of accounting. It is open to those working in accounting roles or people that are not currently employed.
Completion of the Level 1 Programme or relevant work experience in accounting or you will be required to sit an entry assessment.
The units are externally assessed via computer-based exams. First three units are assessed individually in end-of-unit assessments. The Business Environment is examined under the Synoptic assessment which assesses knowledge from all units. On successful completion of Level 2 you will be awarded an overall grade (Distinction, Merit, and Pass) There is also regular homework that is used to assess student progress.
