Course summary

Physics is a subject of great importance and relevance to students today. It is an essential part of any science, engineering or technology course studied at university and highly desirable in many other areas. A physics qualification gives a great range of opportunities to a student both in a career and at degree level. Physics A Level is one of the most universally accepted qualifications for progression to university. The course content covers the basis of how things work, from the constituent parts of atoms to the extent of the universe. You will integrate the concepts studied with a range of practical experiments throughout each topic giving the course both an academic and practical focus. You will learn to apply your knowledge of the key concepts to solve problems with an emphasis on contexts and applications.

Entry requirements

• You need at least five GCSE passes at grade 4 – 9 to study at this level. • Grade 6 in Physics

How you'll be assessed

Most focus on examinations at the end of the qualification as the main assessment method but some also require the completion of non-examination assessments (NEAs).
