This course will give you excellent knowledge and understanding of Drama and Theatre. The written component consists of the study of two set plays and the analysis and evaluation of the work of live theatre makers. The practical component consists of one devised piece that must be influenced by the work and methodologies of one prescribed practitioner, the practical exploration and interpretation of three extracts, each taken from a different play and influenced by a practitioner.
• Entry to the Sixth Form is based on meeting the standard entry requirements. These include the passing of Maths and English Language at a grade 4. • In addition to this we use a calculation called Attainment 8 to work out a score for students to indicate their suitability for each pathway. This score is generated by combining a students’ best 8 subject grades, counting English and Maths twice and including a minimum of three Ebacc subjects; Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Core & Additional Science, Computer Science, History, Geography, French, Spanish and German. For Waingels students this score will be included in any reports home. • A Level Pathway (selecting only A Levels): 50 ( Average Grade 5) • A grade 5 in English Language or Literature. No previous Drama and Theatre Studies background is required however they will need at least a grade 4 if the student sat GCSE Drama and Theatre Studies. Their grade will be a good indicator of success on the A Level course.
