Course summary
Our Fine Art course develops you as an artist through the exploration of painting, printmaking, drawing, textiles, mixed media, digital media, installation, and sculpting. With first-rate studios and visiting artists workshops, this is one of our most popular and creatively diverse courses. At the end of your first year, you can choose to specialize in Fine Arts or Crafts and Design Throughout your studies, you will have access to our dedicated Art and Design studios. The Fine Art studio is fully equipped to allow you to develop your skills and experiment artistically. Visiting artists provides you with the opportunities to learn from working professionals to develop and expand your skill set. In the Portfolio unit, we will explore drawing, mixed media, printmaking, photography, textiles, and painting. The course begins with a structured program of techniques, which you will then take into your personalized topic. We research local, and current artists as well as the great masters and use this to help develop your creative ideas. This is a practical course aimed at developing you as an artist. You will produce a sketchbook and development work, including a final piece. Previous students have progressed on to a diverse range of careers across the creative industries including art therapy, interior design, courtroom art, and textile design.
