This qualification aims to develop a student’s knowledge, understanding and skills of the principles of IT and Global Information Systems. You will gain an insight into the IT sector as you investigate the pace of technological change, IT infrastructure, the flow of information on a global scale, and the importance of legal and security considerations. Designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector including Cisco, Naace, IBM, BT and Barclays, the Level 3 Cambridge Technical in IT focuses on the requirements that today’s universities and employers demand.
GCSE of 4 or above in English is essential.
Year 1: This comprises two external examinations. Unit 1 – Fundamentals of IT (25%) 1 hour 30 minutes written exam – 80 marks Unit 2 – Global information (25%) 1 hour 30 minutes written exam – 80 marks Year 2: Unit 5 – Virtual and Augmented Reality (16.67%) Non-examined assessment (NEA) work completed and assessed internally before being externally moderated by the exam board. Unit 8 – Project Management (16.67%) Non-examined assessment (NEA) work completed and assessed internally before being externally moderated by the exam board. Unit 17 – Internet of Everything (16.67%) Non-examined assessment (NEA) work completed and assessed internally before being externally moderated by the exam board.
