Health and social care services are changing – care is increasingly complex with new challenges including management of continuity of care, long term conditions, rehabilitation, dementia and end-of-life care. Studying this qualification can open up career opportunities for you in this growing sector. You will cover physical, intellectual, emotional and social development across the human lifespan, and the factors affecting development and the effects of ageing. The course explores what it is like to work in the health and social care sector, including the roles and responsibilities of workers and organisations. You will focus on the principles and practicalities that underpin meeting individuals’ care and support needs, which are the foundation of all the care disciplines. As students of the subject, you will explore the role of health and social care services in providing care and support to individuals with additional needs.
• You need at least four GCSE passes at grade 4 – 9 to study at this level. • The standard 6th form entry requirements, Level 2 Health and Social Care an advantage.
Most focus on examinations at the end of the qualification as the main assessment method but some also require the completion of non-examination assessments (NEAs).
