The first year will provide a strong and broad foundation to develop skills in various areas including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, mixed media, digital photography and digital media. During the second year you will be able to specialise in a narrower range of disciplines depending on your strengths and preferences. The use of a sketchbook underpins all practical investigations. Coursework projects allow for independent and personalized responses. They will develop you as a creative individual, fully equipped with the skills required for further study and for employment in a related field. An A Level in Art can open the door to many Art/ Design-based Higher Education courses. The department has a proven track record of academic success, with all students who applied for further or higher education successfully securing places. This course provides an excellent foundation for any Art & Design career. You will also learn many skills that are transferable to other sectors.
