A Level Chemistry will allow you to develop your knowledge and understanding of Chemistry, both in a theoretical and practical context. The course is divided into three main components; Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. Alongside the three main components there will be many practical opportunities, leading to a Practical Endorsement Certificate at the end of the two year course. The course is perfect for students who are keen to learn more about the world of Chemistry around them and for those looking to develop logical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Entry to the Sixth Form is based on meeting the standard entry requirements. These include the passing of Maths and English Language at a grade 4. • In addition to this we use a calculation called Attainment 8 to work out a score for students to indicate their suitability for each pathway. This score is generated by combining a students’ best 8 subject grades, counting English and Maths twice and including a minimum of three Ebacc subjects; Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Core & Additional Science, Computer Science, History, Geography, French, Spanish and German. For Waingels students this score will be included in any reports home. • A Level Pathway (selecting only A Levels): 50 ( Average Grade 5) • A grade 6 in Maths plus 6-6 in Combined Science, or grade 6 in Chemistry.
