This qualification is aimed at students preparing for roles in engineering, for example engineering technician or engineering operative. Students gain relevant skills and knowledge from studying a range of content focused on electrical/electronic and mechanical disciplines, for example electrical machines and maintenance of mechanical systems. This course has been designed to give new entrants to the engineering sector the underpinning knowledge and specific skills needed to meet the needs of modern mechanical engineering industries. Many of the units have strong links to the knowledge and evidence requirements of the SEMTA National Occupational Standards and relevant NVQs at Level 3 and will provide learners with opportunities for progression within and into employment.
Students must achieve 5 qualifications at Grade 4 or above to return to 6th Form at PCHS including having studies DT or Engineering at GCSE.
A combination of mandatory and optional units which will include supervised assignments, externally set examinations and individual projects.
