Course summary
Any students interested in the world of TV, music, or the web, should consider A Level Media Studies. The course investigates in detail the practical and theoretical aspects of how modern media is made, who makes it, who it is aimed at, and what impressions of the world it creates for us. It develops a valuable understanding of this vitally important and ever-present aspect of the modern world and can also provide entry onto any of a wide range of media-related courses in Further and Higher Education. In year 12 and 13 you will be required to show skills in independent learning and produce a piece of practical media production spanning a variety of different mediums. It is a subject that embraces new technology as all your coursework research and planning is kept on a blog. Contemporary and modern forms of media consumption will be explored through various different platforms.
