The A Level Photography course explores different ranges of Photographic media, techniques and processes, using both traditional and contemporary approaches. It is aimed at developing creative confidence and expression through visual imagery and technical skill. You will learn how to use digital and traditional equipment, how to use specific lighting techniques and how to shoot on location. Through researching artists and developing your own ideas you will develop written and verbal critical thinking skills You will also learn how to manipulate images using software such as Photoshop. Photography is taught by specialist teachers who will teach you photographic technical skills, explore the world around you in visual form, and build on your personal interest and enjoyment in Photography. You are expected to show initiative in engaging in photography beyond the classroom such as visiting local photography exhibitions and entering photographic competitions where possible. Effective use of private study periods in the Photography suite will be essential.
7 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including grade 5 in GCSE Art, Art & Design or Photography. Owning your own 35mm SLR or digital camera would be an advantage.
