The P.E. A-Level course both builds upon the units that the students studied at GCSE and introduces entirely new topics. It is a fantastic basis for moving into work in the Sports Industry or further education. Over the two years you will study: applied anatomy and physiology, skill acquisition, sport and society, exercise physiology, biomechanics, sport psychology and technology in sport. This is an academically demanding course, with a heavy focus on Biology. Competence in Science is therefore very important. The exams are assessed through a mixture of multiple choice, short answer and extended answer questions, so literacy skills are key. Students are also assessed as a performer or coach in the full sided version of one activity.
Grade 6 in Physical Education GCSE, plus Grade 5 in Maths GCSE and one English GCSE For those who haven’t taken Physical Education GCSE: Grade 5 in Maths GCSE and one English GCSE, plus Grade 6 in Biology GCSE (for Single Scientists) or Grade 6 in all Biology modules (for Combined Scientists)
30% Coursework / 70% Exam
