Music
Course summary
The study of Music at A Level is both academically challenging and creatively stimulating. This new course provided by Eduqas provides more ‘specialist’ routes than the more traditional A Level course and can be adapted to suit the strengths of both the performer (Option A) and composer or arranger alike (Option B). Ideally, students embarking on the course will have achieved at least a Grade 6 at GCSE and be competent performers on at least one instrument. While it is not essential to have achieved graded music exams in their main instrument, in order to achieve a good grade in performance at A Level, students should ideally be performing at about Grade 7 by the time of the assessment in the Upper Sixth. A good working knowledge of music theory is also highly recommended.
