AQA History qualifications have been designed to help students understand the significance of historical events, the role of individuals in history and the nature of change over time. This qualification will help them to gain a deeper understanding of the past through political, social, economic and cultural perspectives.
Ideally, students choosing History at A Level will have studied the subject at GCSE and achieved a grade 5 or above. However, an enthusiasm for the subject and a desire to learn is equally important.
Unit 1 – Breadth study of one country over c. 100 years examined with one source of evidence based question and two essays. Unit 2 – Depth study over c. 50 years examined by one source of evidence question and two essays. Unit 3 – Historical Investigation (coursework). A 3500 word essay potentially on any country or period of History (subject to teacher and exam board approval)
