The second year includes the following: Aspects of French-speaking society: current issues • Positive features of a diverse society (Les aspects positifs d'une société diverse) • Life for the marginalised (Quelle vie pour les marginalisés) • How criminals are treated (Comment on traite les criminals) Aspects of political life in the French-speaking world • Teenagers, the right to vote and political commitment (Les ados, le droit de vote et l'engagement politique) • Demonstrations, strikes - who holds the power? (manifestations, grèves - à qui le pouvoir?) • Politics and immigration (La politique et l'immigration) Literary texts and films: Pupils must study either one text and one film or two texts from a set list. Independent Research Project (IRP)
Successful candidates will be offered a place conditional on specified grades at I/GCSE, typically a minimum of six I/GCSEs at grade 8-9. Sporting, creative and other talents are also important as they form an integral part of the Sixth Form programme.
A LEVEL ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE: 50%PAPER 1: LISTENING/READING/TRANSLATION 2 hours 30 minutes. 100 marks 20% PAPER 2: WRITING 2 hours. 80 marks. Based on one set text and one film OR two set texts 30% PAPER 3: SPEAKING 18 minutes. 60 marks
