Modern language skills are a prerequisite in today's professional job market and we promote language confidence and skills for real-world purposes as well as academic ones. In German, we are offering preparation for the internationally and highly regarded Goethe- Zertifikat diplomas. There are six independent diplomas, which correspond, respectively, to the six levels of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). They are valid for life and are recognised worldwide. These diplomas recognise the level of proficiency you will have reached in German following a further year of study. Moreover, the Goethe-Zertifikat enables you to work and live in a German-speaking country. Pupils will be preparing for the qualifications (which assess candidates' skills in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) that best suit their ability in the language.
Successful candidates will be offered a place conditional on specified grades at I/GCSE, typically a minimum of six I/GCSEs in grades 8-9. Sporting, creative and other talents are also important as they form an integral part of the Sixth Form programme. Linguistic aptitude. You have an ability to make a close study of words and structures, alongside a good IGCSE pass of at least a grade 7.
