Course summary

Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. The A Level course content has been designed to reflect authentic practice, as best as it can within the school environment, giving an insight into the way creative, engineering and manufacturing industries function. Learning about design and technology at A Level strengthens learners’ critical thinking and problem solving skills within a creative environment, enabling them to develop and make prototypes and products that solve real world problems, considering their needs, wants and aspirations.

Entry requirements

Students should have a genuine interest in how and why products are designed and manufactured. Ideally, you will have studied at GCSE Level, though this is not essential. You should be able to manage your work independently as well as demonstrating your ability to be self-disciplined and reliable in extended research assignments
