Students who choose to study Biology at A Level are encouraged to develop their interest in and enthusiasm for the subject, appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues and practical skills. Students are expected to work independently outside of lesson time and do some background reading. Students will have the opportunity to carry out microscope work, biochemical experiments and physiological investigations. Some of the practical work will be assessed as part of the Practical Skills Units. Your progress will be assessed regularly by end of topic tests and practice exam questions for which you will be expected to revise thoroughly.
Ideally, students choosing to embark upon the A Level Biology course should have attained at least a grade 6 in GCSE Biology and or appropriate Sciences. Students should have interest and enthusiasm for the subject.
