Course summary

Students will explore French-speaking artistic culture, including francophone music and cinema, and learn about political engagement as well as who wields political power in the French-speaking world. They will also look at diversity and its benefits, in addition to social and technological change. Students also explore the influence of the past on present-day French-speaking communities. Throughout their studies, they will learn the language in the context of French-speaking countries and the issues and influences which have shaped them. Students will study literary texts and have the opportunity to carry out independent research on an area of their choice. Assessment tasks will be varied and cover listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation skills.

Entry requirements

• GCSE Maths: You must achieve a grade 7 or higher • GCSE English or English Language: You must achieve a grade 7 or higher • A Level subjects: You must achieve a grade 7, 8, or 9 in your chosen A Level subjects. For some subjects, a minimum of grade 8 or 9 is required (see below) We would like students to have achieved grade 8 – 9 in GCSE French.
