Have you ever considered setting up your own business? Want to be your own boss? Then Business could be the subject for you! A Level Business equips you with the skills and understanding to create, manage and run a successful business. Throughout the course we explore real business case studies whilst focusing on key business concepts including marketing, finance, operations and human resources. Business students will: Develop an enthusiasm for business Gain an understanding of business in a range of contexts Generate enterprising and creative approaches to business opportunities and issues Be aware of the ethical dilemmas and responsibilities faced by organisations Acquire a range of skills including decision making, problem solving and critical analysis Apply numerical skills in a range of business contexts Business students often take an active role in our enterprise challenges including our Dragons’ Den challenge. Students will have the opportunity to create a new product that they will sell at a number of trade fairs on site. At the end of the year, ideas will be pitched to the Dragons who are looking for the most unique, successful business idea.
Candidates are expected to achieve Grade 7 or above in subjects they wish to take at A Level, or, for subjects not previously studied, a 7 in facilitating subjects. A list of these can be found here. All candidates will take two written general papers, one Maths related and one essay writing based, a computer based thinking skills assessment and have an academic interview, with subject specific staff.
