Psychology offers the opportunity to gain a thorough introduction to the fascinating study of mind and behaviour through active engagement with a range of relevant and motivating topics. Learning about psychological theories and developing an understanding of related ethical issues and social diversity will help students interpret the world around them with greater insight. The skills they will develop include the ability to subject ideas and theories to a sophisticated level of critical analysis, interpret data, understand the scientific research process and practise academic essay writing.
Candidates are expected to achieve Grade 7 or above in subjects they wish to take at A Level, or, for subjects not previously studied, a 7 in facilitating subjects. A list of these can be found here. All candidates will take two written general papers, one Maths related and one essay writing based, a computer based thinking skills assessment and have an academic interview, with subject specific staff.
