Further Mathematics builds on the topics covered in A Level Mathematics – we would advise students to consider studying Further Mathematics if they love the subject and are thinking about studying Mathematics or a strongly Mathematics-related subject at university. Students can only choose Further Mathematics if they have also chosen Mathematics and they must choose this as an option in Lower Sixth. Choosing Mathematics and Further Mathematics leads to two separate A Levels.
Candidates are expected to achieve Grade 7 or above in subjects they wish to take at A Level, or, for subjects not previously studied, a 7 in facilitating subjects. A list of these can be found here. All candidates will take two written general papers, one Maths related and one essay writing based, a computer based thinking skills assessment and have an academic interview, with subject specific staff.
