Psychology is one of the most popular A Level subjects and a very popular degree course. It is a fascinating yet challenging academic subject that requires students to compose a logically developed discussion, using scientific evidence to support their arguments. Through the study of psychology, students will develop critical analysis, independent thinking and research skills that are valued in higher education and in the workplace. To succeed in psychology, students will need a high standard of English and a logical approach to problem solving.
In addition to passing our Entrance Examinations, offers are conditional on achieving a minimum of six 9-6 grades at GCSE (or equivalent), including in the subjects to be studied at A Level, where applicable: please see individual subject entry grades on pages 13-61 for subject-specific entry requirements. Girls without these grades may be admitted subject to discussion with the Senior Deputy Head, Director of Sixth Form and the Head. Most of our Sixth Formers follow a 3 A Level programme. Students who would benefit from the opportunity for further stretch and variety are supported to follow a 4 A Level programme. Alongside their 3 or 4 A Levels, girls will also have the opportunity to complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) which equates to half an A Level.
