This course gives an excellent overview of UK and US government and politics, as well as setting current affairs into theoretical context. It complements other humanities subjects as well as providing opportunities.
Grade 6 at GCSE English and in a Humanities subject, if taken. History is ideal but not essential.
Paper 1: UK Politics (democracy and participation elections and electoral systems, voting behaviour, political parties, pressure groups) and core idealogies (socialism, conservatism and liberalism) Paper 2: UK Government (constitution, executive, legislature, judiciary) and Feminism Paper 3: (taught in Year 13) US Politics and Government and comparative US/UK Each paper is a 2-hour exam and all are completed at the end of Year 13. (Exam: 2hrs, 33.3%)
