Course summary

The A Level Music course is designed to broaden the horizons of young musicians, adding depth and inspiration to their own creativity through detailed knowledge of the techniques and history of western music. Over the course of the two years, students will not only become more confident as performers and composers, but will also increase their ability to discuss and critically analyse a wide range of musical styles and genres from Bach to Beyoncé

Entry requirements

Grade 6 minimum in Music CCSE

How you'll be assessed

Performing (35%) Live recital of one or more pieces. The performance can be solo and/or as part of an ensemble. Minimum performance time is ten minutes. Composition (25%) Two compositions. The total timing across both submissions must be a minimum of four and a half minutes. Appraising (40%) A two and a half hour written paper based on three areas of study.
