Course summary

In the modern world, sport has become an extremely big business. From the multi-billion dollar world of elite professional sport to the inclusive world of personal fitness, the impact of sport on the lives of billions cannot be understated. The BTEC Sport pathway that we offer gives students an opportunity to study a broad range of topics such as anatomy and physiology, sports coaching, sports psychology and Investigating Business in Sport. The Course is designed to provide students with the specialist sports science related knowledge, understanding and skills that are needed for a career in sport or to advance to higher education. As part of the ever-increasing focus within the sporting world on achieving the best possible results; sport scientists and performance consultants are growing in demand and in employment. Students will study: 10 mandatory units consisting of: • Anatomy and Physiology • Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being • Professional Development in the Sports Industry • Sports Leadership • Practical Sports Performance • Coaching for Performance • Research Methods in Sport • Development and Provision of Sport and Physical Activity • Investigating Business in Sport and the Active Leisure Industry • Skill Acquisition in Sport 4 Optional units consisting of: • Application of Fitness Testing • Sports Psychology • Rules, Regulations and Officiating in Sport • Sports Injury Management
