Geography in the sixth form will both extend your existing knowledge and introduce totally new and exciting concepts. It provides a useful bridge between the arts and sciences, allowing you to see the ‘bigger picture’, and as a result works well in combination with all subjects. The course provides an equal mix of physical and human geography, supported by a residential field trip in the lower sixth. If you have enjoyed geography at GCSE, you will certainly be inspired by the greater depth and breadth that A level offers.
It is a requirement of the course that students undertake four days of fieldwork, and as a result we will take our students to Pembrokeshire for a three night residential excursion at the end of the spring term of their lower sixth year, including two full days of fieldwork. The remaining two days should be used independently by the students to collect data for their individual projects. We expect the majority of this to be completed in the summer holidays at the end of the lower sixth year.
