The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a piece of independent work: either a 5000 word essay with a presentation, or an event with an accompanying report. At Teesside High School, we encourage students to consider undertaking this qualification in Year 12 or Year 13. The EPQ has the same weighting as an AS level, and is highly valued by universities. Russell Group universities say that the EPQ helps young adults develop exactly the skills in research, organisation, self-motivation and academic presentation that will stand them in good stead as undergraduates.
Entry to THS Sixth Form is subject to five or more GCSEs being achieved at grade 5 or above, including grade 6s in those subjects chosen for A-level. For alternative qualifications, decisions regarding offers of places will be taken on an individual basis.
