BTECs embody a fundamentally learner-centred approach to the curriculum, with a flexible, unit-based structure and knowledge applied in project-based assessments. They focus on the holistic development of the practical, interpersonal and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in employment and higher education within the sporting industry. This qualification is designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate A Levels.
It is preferable, but not essential, for students to have studied PE at GCSE. An interest and passion for sport and related issues is important. Students should have ability in at least one sport either coaching or performing for practical assessment purposes.
4 Units covered over two years: • Anatomy and Physiology • Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being • Professional Development in the Sports Industry • Sports Leadership (Optional) • Practical Sports Performance (Optional)
