Course summary

A two year course perfect for those interested in popular music and its production; recording and sound engineering. The course is both creative and technical and will include both exam and coursework modules in year two. You will be required to record a cover version of a song, compose a piece of music based around two audio samples given by Edexcel, as well as demonstrate an ability to analyse the technical aspects of the music that you listen to. It is preferable for pupils taking this course to have a grade 5 in Music Theory and to be confident in the use of technical software.

Entry requirements

Applicants are required to achieve a minimum of Grade 6 in six subjects at GCSE or iGCSE, however, candidates intending to study A Level Sciences or Languages are required to achieve a minimum of Grade 7, with Grade 8 required for Maths. For candidates not following either a curriculum in GCSE or iGCSE, they must meet the equivalent standards. For applicants where English is not their first language before applying, we require a recent UKiset test result. We will only proceed with an application where the Common European Framework Reference (CEFR) Score is C1 across all disciplines.
