OCR A Level Business provides an insight into how businesses work, stimulating learners’ curiosity and encouraging them to engage with commerce in their everyday lives. Learners will gain an understanding of businesses in a range of contexts and develop a critical understanding of organisations and their ability to meet society’s needs and wants.
A grade 5 in GCSE English and Mathematics should be seen as a minimum expectation. It is essential for learners to keep up to date with business events in the news and some opt to take part in the school’s Young Enterprise activity outside of class which provides them with an opportunity to set up their own business and to put their learning to the test. The course provides a good foundation for effective progression to higher education, modern apprenticeships and employment.
Assessments are carried out throughout the course in order to monitor progress and provide further individual advice but the A Level examinations are held at the end of the two year course.
