Chemistry is a fundamental science and its application is evident in, and essential to, almost every aspect of daily life. Those who hold a Chemistry qualification have been trained in the five major areas of intellectual activity – the abstract, the practical, the linguistic, the mathematical and the logical; Chemistry is rare in offering all five areas, making it an intellectually demanding and fascinating subject. The course covers Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, and offers opportunities to hone practical skills and develop problem solving, data handling, technical and research skills.
For entry into the Sixth Form, candidates are required to have at least six good passes at GCSE, including English and Maths.
The Chemistry course is assessed through three written papers at the end of the course.
