Year 12 Unit one: Development of practical skills Unit two: Foundations of Physics Unit three: Forces and motion Unit four: Electrons, waves and photons Year 13 Unit five: Newtonian world and astrophysics Unit six: Particles and medical physics
To achieve the maximum potential for the course, you should have achieved at least a Grade 7 at GCSE physics or a Grade 7-7 in Combined Science. As there is a mathematical element to the course, we strongly recommend that you have a grade 6 or higher in GCSE Mathematics.
A combination of assessment techniques will be used. Students will be required to take three formal written papers at the end of the course. These will include mostly mathematical problem solving questions and some short descriptive questions. They will be a mixture of multiple choice and structured questions. There will also be a series of practical activities taken throughout the course to demonstrate practical competence.
