Course summary

The WJEC Level Three Diploma in Food Science and Nutrition is studied over two years and is made up of four units. All students must take units one and two and then select either unit three or unit four. Studying one of the two optional units allows students the opportunity to study subjects of particular interest or relevance to them, building on previous learning and experiences.

Entry requirements

It is not essential to have studied Food Studies at GCSE but it would be helpful alongside GCSE Science. Achieving at least a pass at GCSE in English Language is essential.

How you'll be assessed

The WJEC Level three Diploma in Food Science and Nutrition is assessed through a combination of a written exam and an external assignment set and marked by WJEC, along with two internally marked assignments. Achievement is based on a student's ability to meet the assessment criteria and units can be awarded a grade of pass, merit or distinction.
