Internal Skills Development Programme: During the first term students are introduced to the technical and creative elements that will help them in producing their examined assignments. Personal Investigation: This is an in-depth practical unit of work together with a 3,000 word essay. This unit is worth 60% of the A Level mark. Externally Set Task: The questions for the externally set task are available from February when students are in Year 13. Students will be required to respond to one of the questions set by OCR, making certain that their practical and written work covers all four assessment objectives. This task is worth 40% of the A Level mark.
To achieve the maximum potential from the course, you must be literate and have good essay writing skills along with strong analytical skills. Achieving at least a pass at GCSE in English Language is essential.
The examining board’s for assessment objectives are used as the basis for internal progress and assessment. After the final marks are submitted to the examining board, an external moderator visits the school to assess a sample of the students’ work.
