Starting an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) Level 3 is an exciting and extremely valuable thing to do! The EPQ is one of the most powerful qualifications being offered by schools at the moment. The EPQ enables you to engage with academia and lets you explore a topic that goes beyond the realm of your other subjects in a supported and guided environment. At STAHS, we encourage Year 12 students to consider doing an EPQ alongside their A-level subjects. The aim of the EPQ is to provide freedom and time to develop skills and explore an idea that interests you. Doing an EPQ is great for building confidence and broadening horizons because you are free to be creative, practical and academic can be led by your curiosity and you can pursue an idea unique to you. The point of the EPQ is that you work independently and gain invaluable skills through a Taught Skills Programme that will help you structure your thinking and your research ideas. The EPQ is based on independent, university-style study and takes you on a wonderful journey of self-discovery.
We require external students joining STAHS to achieve a minimum of grade 6 in Maths and in English, alongside the grade requirements in relevant GCSEs for their chosen A levels.
