Classical Civilisation is a subject that appeals to students who want to immerse themselves in the wonders of ancient Greece and Rome and to understand why these cultures have been so influential in world history.
We require external students joining STAHS to achieve a minimum of grade 6 in Maths and in English, alongside the grade requirements in relevant GCSEs for their chosen A levels. Grade 7 or above at GCSE in an essay-based subject. You do not need to have studied Classical Civilisation at GCSE in order to take the A level. No knowledge of Latin or Classical Greek is required. Many students successfully study Classical Civilisation at A level without any prior knowledge of the subject from GCSE.
