The study of a foreign language is a highly respected discipline which develops transferable life skills and opens up many future career opportunities. If you are interested in travel, either as a career or a hobby, having the ability to speak the language of the country you are visiting will give you a totally different perspective from that of the tourist. The team comprises ten of the most dynamic departments in the region. The team is comprised of ten experienced teachers and three native assistants to give pupils a genuine understanding of the language they are learning. There is a programme of educational visits abroad because we believe language learning occurs beyond the classroom.
Pupils wanting to pursue a Modern Language A Level need to have achieved a Grade 7 or higher in the relevant language GCSE.
Course options and structure: • Paper 1 - Listening, reading and writing - 50% • Paper 1 - Writing – one book and one film - 20% • Paper 1 - Speaking (21-23 minutes) – 30% Spanish: • Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world - more than 400 million speakers • One of the easiest foreign languages to learn Topics include: gender equality, immigration, racism, cyberspace and the influence of celebrities.
