
This course has been designed to provide a broad introduction to the scope and nature of psychology as a Science. The emphasis is on applying knowledge and understanding rather than just acquiring knowledge. As a result you will develop transferable skills of analysis, evaluation and critical thinking. Students will develop an appreciation of how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the society. There is no coursework, but throughout both years students will have the opportunity to conduct experiments and research, as well as analysing data using a variety of mathematical techniques.
To do well in Psychology you will need to have achieved a Grade 6 in GCSE Maths and it is strongly recommended that you also have a Grade 6 in English Language and at least Grade 6 in Science.
The course is assessed entirely through exams sat at the end of the course. There are three two hour exams.
