The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a project undertaken alongside A-levels which is graded A* – E, and culminates in a qualification that is equivalent to half an A-level in terms of UCAS points. It has recently been introduced to UK schools and has become more popular over the last few years. The qualification is made up of: A 5000-word essay OR an actual physical project (e.g art work/dance performance/song recital) plus a 1000-word report A presentation (given to a minimum of 2 people)
Entry requirements Minimum age: 16 Education: Completed 10 years of school with good results
The essay or project is assessed internally. The presentation is recorded and sent off for external assessment.
