The A Level course is now linear. Students can choose to study Art at AS and gain a qualification or decide to also study at A Level. AS has now been de-coupled from A Level, which means that AS results do not count towards A Level. There is also much more emphasis on drawing and the different ways it is used as well as written work, including research and analysis of Art and artists and annotation and analysis of the student’s work as it develops through the course.
Pupils normally need a minimum of 6 GCSE passes with at least a grade B in the subjects they choose to study at A Level or for the IB Diploma.
