The A Level course topics are a mix of Modern European History and Late Medieval British History and is examined through conventional essay writing, work from primary sources and the use of historians’ interpretations (both in exams and through an extended piece of coursework). The course is supported by a highly successful residential trip to Berlin and a day trip to London (in conjunction with the Medieval paper). The department has had much recent success supporting applications to study history at university, including three Oxbridge offers over the past two years.
