A Level Music in the Sixth Form at CLS provides a stimulating course of study for the able musical enthusiast. At CLS, Music is frequently taken by pupils who gain amongst the best GCSE and A Level scores in the School. Pupils have the opportunity to develop their musical interests alongside learning key skills and knowledge in the subject. Music attracts students with a wide range of academic interests across the curriculum offered at City. It is usual to have pupils studying a wide range of other subjects in the class, as well as a broad range of musical passions, all of which make for fascinating different perspectives. The Sixth Form is a crucial time in the development of musicians and the department contains staff with a very broad range of musical skills. This enables us to provide targeted support to enable students to attain their ambitions successfully. A Level of Music is a prerequisite for pupils wishing to apply to read Music at university or to apply to music college. CLS has a strong reputation for successfully preparing students for entry to Russell Group Universities, Oxbridge choral and organ awards, as well as music conservatoires in the UK and USA.
