IB Physics is a similar standard to A Level, but the Standard level covers less breadth of work. Topics include Mechanics, Waves, Fields, Quantum physics and Radioactivity. Practical work plays a key part in the course and learning by discovery is used whenever possible.
Each of the six subjects is marked out of 7 (maximum of 42 points).
To assess the practical work there is an Internal Assessment which consists of an independent investigation and will take place at the end of Year 12. Students also take part in the Group 4 project which is an exciting opportunity for students from different science disciplines to work together to answer practical questions.
