Few experiences in life can match the sense of achievement and pleasure of being able to communicate with someone in a foreign language. It is an immensely rewarding challenge to study languages beyond the confines of the GCSE syllabus. Universities like to see languages on a UCAS form and you can combine languages with a wide range of degree courses. Universities are very keen to recruit linguists and you could well receive a more generous grade offer when you apply for a degree. Study of French or Spanish is also excellent preparation for study of a new language at university. In an increasingly monolingual United Kingdom you will be a valuable commodity. Language graduates earn more than any other non-vocational degree.
