Course summary

Studying classical languages at A Level will build on the skills and knowledge you have developed at GCSE. The first year of study involves two components of study: language, with a prescribed range of grammar and literature, based on the verse and prose set texts that will be studied throughout the year. The second year of the course will see you study another prose and verse literature text as well as deepen your understanding of the language. Classical languages are well-regarded by both universities and employers due to their academic rigor as you will have developed a highly transferable skill set. Both subjects complement many university courses, including Medicine, History, Classics, Law, Physics, English, Modern Foreign Languages and Arabic.
