Course summary

English Literature in the Sixth Form at OHS is intellectually demanding, dynamic and distinctive – a course that will challenge you to think and learn above and beyond the confines of an exam syllabus, while equipping you to achieve at the highest levels. English lessons combine energising discussions with detailed, scholarly textual exploration - and a sense of fun! You will engage with literary texts, ideas and opinions in an open way, developing your own responses increasingly independently, while broadening and refining your personal expression.

Entry requirements

External applications are warmly invited for Sixth Form (Year 12) entry. Our minimum entry requirements are at least 5 A*/A grades or grade 7 or above at GCSE, and it is expected that you will achieve an A* or grade 8/9 in the subjects you want to study at A Level. In addition, external candidates are required to achieve at least a grade A, or grade 7 or above, in English Language and Mathematics. Should an applicant wish to change their subject choices following tests, offer or acceptance of the offer, we reserve the right to re-test and/or re-interview.
