CCS offers students the opportunity to study the development of art and design theory and history in its many changing forms. The emphasis of the course is on evaluating and interpreting works of art in their social and historical context. There is also a very strong practical element to the course. No prior knowledge of the subject or practical art experience is required. However, students who choose this subject must have a good level of English in all areas; listening, speaking, reading and above all writing. The main disciplines are as follows: • History of art and design • Critical writing • Critical and cultural analysis • Research skills • Critiques and discussion • Bridging theory and practice
A Level Programme Requirements: · Aged 16+ on 1st September prior to enrolment · Minimum 3 GCSE’s or equivalent · Appropriate art and design portfolio · Proof* of English Language to a CEFR level of at least B1 (for students whose first language is not English) ·* proof must be in the form of a Secure English Language Test (SELT) if the student is 18 years or older. If the student is 17 or younger, proof can be in the form of an internal test conducted by ISCA, if the candidate has not already taken an external English language test (e.g. IELTS, PET, iGCSE in ESOL etc.).
